The need for filing cabinets in the not quite paperless office

With so much of our “paperwork” now reduced to electronic impulses, one wonders if filing cabinets will soon be used only to hold our lunch. Of course this statement is made in jest too, as the use of pen and pad continue to be of paramount importance. And the people who make those post-it notes needn’t worry about going out of business anytime soon. The traditional four drawer standing upright file cabinet continues to offer protection and security to all of our printed stored documents. And the legal size drop in file type cabinets are more popular than ever, as they can be used for desktop extensions.

Filing cabinets are still available in the traditional gray and peach colored metal variety with a prerequisite key lock installed. Replicas of antique oak and mahogany cabinets are also still available, allowing one to use these pieces as functional and decorative office furniture. Almost every office furniture manufacturer includes in their product range matching meeting tables, bookcases and file cabinets. Lower profile cabinets are perfect for placement of computer printers and teleconferencing monitors.
