Not too long ago the height of status for an executive office would have been a deeply cushioned plush leather office chair. Today top management is more concerned with comfort than appearances. With an overall trend towards health, office chairs now incorporate many important ergonomic design elements. In fact most of the more comfortable executive office chairs might seem odd and out of place.
Take for example ergonomic mesh office chairs. With their exposed adjustment elements and wide plastic laced fabric in lieu of leather, one could not imagine that these were more comfortable than a batting stuffed leather Queen Anne chair, but indeed they are. Of course it is a difficult task to blend form with function. Consider however designer office chairs such as the famous mid-century modern Eames chair and its comfort elements. Mesh office chairs might be all the rage in the moment but within a few years all the ergonomic design elements they incorporate will be available in a leather reclining office chair.
